Happy 2020 everyone!!
We’ve come to the end of January, a month where hibernating indoors with a good book is highly recommended. With my new posting schedule, I’ve aimed to review 8 books each month, which should not only keep me on track to reach my Goodreads goal for the year, but also keep the pressure off (as last year, I was really pushing for 10.)
I got a lot of reading done over my holiday break, so I managed to get ahead of my reading schedule, which has been nice since I had some crazy things go on over the course of the month (more on that in a minute!). I managed to review the following for January:
- The Mothers by Brit Bennett
- Heart on the Page by Wendy Brown-Baez
- All the F*cking Mistakes by Gigi Engle
- Unbreak Me by Michelle Hazen
- The Girl in Red by Christina Henry
- The Bear by Andrew Krivak
- The Burnout Generation by Anne Helen Petersen
- Normal People by Sally Rooney
2020 started off a little rough for me, but progressively got better. I had a wonderful New Years with my family (with a tad too much champagne, but hey, why not on such an occasion!), but shortly after delved into a series of car problems. After a struggle, the best solution came to me… friends, meet Merlot, my new whip!
Additionally, my normally quiet January was a little hectic as far as work goes, so my downtime wasn’t existent- therefore, I didn’t get as far ahead as I would have hoped for in my blogging schedule for February. However, I did get a lot of reading done so I know I’ve got some stellar books headed your way!
Speaking of schedule, I hope you’ve noticed that there are some new spotlights happening over the weekend- the Author Spotlight, where I basically fangirl over some of my fave authors; and the Blogger Spotlight, where I compile some sage words of blogging advice from YOU, my fellow bloggers! I’m really excited about them both, and hope you all will enjoy them!
Lastly, this month I got to attend a book event for Cassie Chambers, author of Hill Women. I loved the memoir, and I was really excited to meet the author and learn more about her writing process and thoughts post-publication. I will be sharing the discussion in February, so stay tuned for all the details!
So that’s the wrap on January, and I look forward to sharing more good stuff with you next month!
