The Lexington Bookie

About the Blog

The Lexington Bookie is a book review blog and intended Lexington, KY area literary resource.

On this blog, I read (via physical, audio, and e-reader books) whatever sparks my interest, which includes a variety of genres. My favorites tend to be historical fiction, general fiction, and memoirs. I also I review where I got the book, why it sparked my interest, a short summary (spoiler-free as can be) of the novel. Then I note whether or not I recommend the book, and if so, who the ideal audience is.

In addition to reviews, I also discuss book blogging tips and provide local area literary information.

About the Blog Origins

I started The Lexington Bookie in 2016 as a fun resolution that combined reading and maintaining a blog. I had started a few personal blogs before without much success or discipline, and determined that a book blog would be perfect to keep me reading and motivated. Soon, it became a full-on thrill to read, review, and write about the bookish things I enjoy.

I enjoy recommending a good book to others. It thrills me to know that there are people out there who care what I have to say about books. Those people inspire and motivate me to continue on with this blog.

About the Blogger

My name is Amanda, and I live just outside Lexington, KY. Primarily, I’m an equine professional, which is why I decided to move to the horse capital of Lexington from my hometown in Vermont. If you can’t find me in a barn, I’m usually curled up reading with my two cats. My to-be-read pile has grown considerably since I started this blogging escapade, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Read more about me here.

I hope you enjoy my selection of reads, and you join me as I delve deeper into the book blogging world. Also, don’t forget to follow me on my social media platforms (Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, Goodreads and Twitter) to keep up on my current posts! If you’re already following me, thank you for your support.

Happy reading!
