Lexington

Here are the book stores I frequent in Lexington, Kentucky!

Joseph-Beth Booksellers
161 Lexington Green Cir B, Lexington, KY 40503
Open Monday-Saturday 10am-9pm, Sunday 10am-6pm
https://www.josephbeth.com/Landing.aspx

What I love about them: Two floors of books, complete with Brontë’s Bistro and coffee stand? Yes please! A Lexington institution that has something for everyone, from books to games and gifts, I can easily wander for hours…and have! They also happen to host a good amount of author discussions and signings, which I enjoy. Also, their yearly membership has great perks like 30% off new bestsellers! They also have two sister branches located in/near Cincinnati.

Half Price Books
2321 Sir Barton Way, Lexington, KY 40509
127 W Tiverton Way, Lexington, KY 40503
Open Monday-Saturday 10am-10pm, Sunday 10am-8pm
https://www.hpb.com/home

What I love about them: Though this is a national chain and I’m all about supporting local bookstores, I also am all about a good deal. HPB buys and resells books at fantastic prices, which is my kind of recycling. There are two locations in Lexington. Pro tip: The one on Tiverton Way seems to always have good deals and high turnover, which makes it my favorite of the two, but Sir Barton’s is easier to pop into since it’s right off the interstate (I-75).

Barnes & Noble
1932 Pavilion Way, Lexington, KY 40509
Open Monday-Thursday 9am-9pm, Friday- Saturday 9am-10pm, Sunday 10am-9pm
https://www.barnesandnoble.com/

What I love about them: I have to admit, I don’t frequent B&N that often, and I don’t have much reason why. But, I’ll say that you can find some great deals here, and they have a Starbucks.

Wild Fig Books and Co-op
726 N Limestone, Lexington, KY 40508
Open Tuesday – Sunday, 10 am to 8pm
https://wildfigbooksandcoffee.com/

What I love about them: Wild Fig may be small, but it is mighty. Not only do they carry a selection of social justice and activism books, but they are locally owned indie/ co-op shop that offers gifts and artwork, as well as a coffee and treats!

sQecial Media
371 S Limestone #220, Lexington, KY 40508
Open Monday – Saturday 10am-8pm, Sunday 12-6pm

What I love about them: Locally owned indie book & gift shop that is located on the second floor of a building in the middle of downtown Lex. It’s small, but you’ll find great nonfiction books on things like music, western medicine, astrology, and art. You can also find great headshop style gifts, home decor, and writing supplies. If you’re looking for eclectic, this is where you’ll find it.

Brier Books
319 South Ashland Avenue, Lexington, KY 40502
Open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 12-5pm
https://www.brierbooks.com/
img_3273

What I love about them: A bright, open, airy bookshop with that looks like home. In an active area in town, the shop is open for all and filled with a diverse selection of reads. *Update* This shop will be closing their physical shop on April 10th, 2019. They will still be active online and as a pop-up shop throughout Lexington!
