The Lexington Bookie

Book Reviews, Blogging Advice, and Lexington Literary Resources

Here are the book stores I’ve visited in Louisville, Kentucky!

Carmichael’s Bookstore
1295 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40204
Open Sunday-Monday 8am-9pm, Friday-Saturday 8am-10pm
2720 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, KY 40206
Open Monday-Saturday 9am-9pm, Sunday 9am-5pm

What I love about them: The locally owned shop has a great selection of new books and gifts. They also host frequent book signing and author events.

994 Breckenridge Ln, Louisville, KY 40207
Open Monday- Thursday 10am-9pm, Friday-Saturday 10am-10pm, Sunday 11am-9pm
757 E Lewis and Clark Pkwy #228, Clarksville, IN 47129
Open Monday-Saturday 10am-9pm, Sunday 12-6pm

What I love about them: If Barnes & Noble has a love child with Half Price Books, it would be Books-a-Million. It’s a chain of stores that has a wide selection of new books and gifts, but they also buy used books and resell them in store. Their coffee shop, Joe Muggs, is also a nice touch!

Nanny Goat Books
218 S Clay St, Louisville, KY 40202
Open Wednesday-Thursday 11am-6pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-7pm, Sunday 11am-5pm

What I love about them: Though they are new face on the NuLu scene, this downtown Louisville shop is already making great waves! The first time in the shop, I met the owner’s (Sarah) mother (@thebookstoremom) and not only was she a total sweetheart, but she told me about her daughter’s future plans for the converted church- which include supporting local authors and publishers, building up an LGBTQ selection, and hosting bookish events in their upstairs event space.
